Hello May, Hello Sports Day

Yes, that's right sports day in May! School decided to have sports day early this year and fortunately the weather was good - it wasn't too cold, it wasn't too hot and it didn't rain. I expect the Head Master will be relieved knowing that one big school event has been successfully ticked off the list!

The boys school calls this event 'Potted Sports' because instead of the traditional events they have 20 smaller 'fun' events which 20 teams rotate around. Each team has 2 or 3 children from each of the 5 years and siblings are kept together in the same team. So Matthew and Callum were together, although for several of the games Callum wouldn't join in and spent it hiding behind my back. Anyway, here are some photos of the boys taking part and enjoying themselves.

See! And that's Matthew who's just scored 22 points and Callum waiting behind him.

The idea of this game was to pass a bowl of water down the line to get as much water as possible into the tub. Callum also got lots of water down himself too!

Matthew scored two baskets, which in my opinion is pretty good when you consider his height and the height of that hoop!

Callum got one basket in a lower basketball hoop.

Callum concentrating really hard to keep that ring balanced on his head as he goes over the bench.

After 15 events their team was in 1st place, but in the end (after all 20 events) they weren't placed in the top three. They were very disappointed. Oh well, maybe next year?
