Now he's 5

When Callum woke up on his birthday he firstly said "Is it morning time?", he'd forgotten it was his birthday and then he saw his silver helium star balloon and exclaimed "My star balloon, thank you!" The penny had dropped, he was out of bed and came running into our room with his balloon flying behind him. We all went downstairs for him to open his presents, he was very excited - most of the photos I took were blurred! We gave him an England kit with number 4 and Gerrard printed on the back - this was his favourite present. He promptly stripped off and put on his new kit, including the red socks. He also got more Lego kits, which of course he loves!
A few days before his birthday he'd whispered in my ear that he wanted me to give him a surprise breakfast on his birthday. I duly remembered and treated him to a Pain au Raisin, his favourite type of pastry.
His Grandparents (my parents) came over mid-morning, so there were more present opening and a ride in Grandad's new car (a lovely Volvo XC60) with booster seats built-in - perfect for transporting the Grandkids around! After lunch he got to blow out the candles on his cake, a football pitch cake no less - his choosing and Mummy's making. Then we headed to the cinema to see Toy Story 3 in 3D, a double first for the boys as they hadn't been to a 'proper' cinema before, let alone watched a 3D film.
Oh and that's Jessie's hat, not Matthew's! The boys looked really funny in their huge 3D glasses - can't they make smaller ones for kids?
The film was really good, the boys enjoyed it and sat really well throughout - they will definitely be allowed to go to the cinema again. After the film we went to Frankie and Benny's for dinner. When they brought out Callum's dessert the lights went down, on went the music and he was presented with his dessert complete with a candle in it. He felt very special.
Back home and a quick photo of us all in the garden before bed.
The next day Callum had a little party. He had invited his best friend Erin and also Anna, who is in Matthew's class but who Callum's loves too. They had a lovely time in the garden playing football, trampolining, playing in the playhouse and some party games. Then they all sat around the coffee table on the patio on their little chairs and enjoyed a party lunch. It was so cute.
Callum can often be heard saying "Now I'm 5" - he seems to have forgotten all about being 4 and about shedding those tears the night before his birthday because he wouldn't be 4 anymore.
Oh, and I best not forget that today my Dad is 65 - Happy Birthday Dad! Today he's spending the day watching the cricket in Southampton at the Rose Bowl. But we spent time with him yesterday and he even started to build a tree house with the boys in his garden. As the boys would say it's "Well cool!". We made Grandad a special card with this photo on it...
Yep, we even made a Lego mini-figure of Grandad and you know what it's actually a fairly good likeness!
