M is for Mini Books

M is for Mini-books-web
I have a confession. I love making mini-books. It's just that sometimes it takes me a little while to complete them! I've spent time over the last two weeks making this mini-book of our summer holiday in Cornwall. Although to be fair it's not all that mini as the album is 8 x 8. I had all the photos printed by Photobox back in August with the intention of at least starting it before the end of the summer holidays - well that didn't happen. I spent a long time thinking about how I was going to put together an album with over a hundred photos and didn't really have a concrete plan. Then, as I was looking around my local Hobbycraft store I spotted that lovely flocked album by MME. The colour of the flocking was perfect for a summer seaside album. Plus the albums were reduced - yippee! I also bought another one with black flocking which I'm thinking will be the basis for my December Daily album this year.

Here's a few pages...

{I used a variety of patterned papers, including the lovely blue flocked polka dot one by MME, the same range as the album (also discounted at Hobbycraft), ruled pp and dark red spot by Scenic Route, red polka dot (Daisy D I think - had it ages), others not shown include; Pink Paisley, Basic Grey and another by Scenic Route. I also used white cardstock (dotted swiss and lilywhite) by Bazzill Basics and transparencies by Hambly (white grid and black circles) to hold the leaflets. For the journaling I either wrote directly on the cardstock / patterned paper or used Heidi Swapp's journaling spots 'Tabs' and also a label by Jenni Bowlin on the opening page. I added 'day' tabs by Katie Pertiet (at Designer Digitals) and date labels by 7gypsies. I added some lovely ribbon by East of India for Tuesday's first page and for the tabs on the leaflets. On the front I used a bracket label by Jenni Bowlin, letters by Making Memories and travel stickers by 7gypsies.}

Today I finished a mini-book for Matthew which took no time at all. It's the same as the one I made for Callum back in April. Matthew really liked it and so I said I would make one for him to keep as well. It's essentially a complete pack of alphabet cards by October Afternoon from their Report Card range, which I have added letter stickers onto the facing pages, an upper case and a lower case letter for each letter of the alphabet (American Crafts - remarks letter stickers). The front cover is a piece of white cardstock covered with ruled pp by Scenic Route (love that paper), vintage style alphabet pp by Cosmo Cricket (Jacks World), a piece of alphabet twill, rub-ons by Jenni Bowlin and alphabet stamp by Studio Calico.

If you're into scrapbooking, do you like making mini-books? What was your last one?

Have a lovely week. I'm already thinking about my December Daily album, see the link at the top of the post for details on Ali Edwards yearly project.
