The School Years

Several years ago I saw in the book 'Clean & Simple Scrapbooking, The Sequel' by Cathy Zielske a wonderful album she had made about her childs school life, it was called The School Years. I loved the idea of having a special album for each of my boys detailing their journey through school from Pre-School right up to, well who knows, University? I soon bought the supplies I would need to see me through those years, at least up to A-Level (or whatever it might be called by the time they get there). It was a big initial outlay and commitment, but so worth it for a cohesive looking album. So, back in the day, several years ago I purchased two American Crafts 12x12 cloth albums, a load of kraft cardstock and lined patterned paper by Scenic Route, report tags by 7Gypsies and brads by Making Memories. The album follows the same format for each year, an intro page with a report tag, two filler pages and finally a page with a pocket to store school reports, certificates, artwork and other special bits and pieces.
Then once a year I get out my folder of supplies, print photos related to that year of school, assemble the background pages and add in the photos, dates and details. For each school I use the same 1inch strip of accent paper, changing it when they enter a new school to mark the change in their school life.
I finally found some time this weekend to work on the albums and get them completed for the school year 2012-2013. Here's what they look like. First up Matthew's album.
And Callum's album.
I still love these albums as much as I did when I started them over 5 years ago.
